The mission of the Virginia Council is to provide a voice on problem gambling issues at the state level, advocating for funding and services to provide prevention, education, treatment, enforcement, research, regulation and recovery.
Our goal is to improve public health and wellness by reducing the personal, social and economic costs of problem gambling. We accomplish this by leading Virginia stakeholders in the development of comprehensive policy and programs in problem gambling and responsible gaming. We need your help to achieve our mission.

I think it's important to recognize that these are people — they have lives in which they're contributing to their communities. This problem is disruptive to their ability to do that. I think it's important to increase the education and awareness to try and reduce this stigma and support those who need the help.
It’s the only addiction that offers hope. I called the Council’s Helpline. I got involved in Gamblers Anonymous, and pulled myself into recovery and started a new career as a counselor working with people struggling with their own gambling issues.
